The Corvair Spyder started its live in 1962 as an Option on the Monza. It was the first production vehicle to have a turbo charger as an option. The engine was advertised as having 150 hp. The Turbocharged Spyder equipment group featured a multi-gauge instrument cluster which included a tachometer, cylinder head temperature and intake manifold pressure gauges, Spyder fender script and Turbo logo deck emblems in addition to the high performance engine. In 1964 it became a full-fledged model.
